Don’t Make the LLM Serialize the Whole Workflow

TL;DR for operators When an LLM produces a bad executable workflow, the failure may not mean that it misunderstood the business rule. It may have selected the right actions and still lost parameters, Boolean relationships, or graph ordering while writing the full structure. That distinction changes the engineering response. In Generating Workflow DAGs from Natural Language with Non-Reasoning LLMs, Anand Iyer, Bhanu Khetharpal, Srinivas Upadhya, and Ramkumar Rajagopal test an architecture that keeps language interpretation in the LLM but moves deterministic graph expansion into conventional code.1 On their 635-rule benchmark, GPT-5.3-chat improves from 56.4% to 80.6% LLM-judge validity when paired with registry selection, a compact intermediate representation, and deterministic compilation. Exact-condition accuracy rises from 56.5% to 82.2%. ...

Make the Structure Survive: Forma Turns Synthetic Clinical Cases Into Auditable Outputs

TL;DR for operators If synthetic cases are going to support training or evaluation, surface plausibility is a weak control objective. The harder requirement is preserving the relationships that make each case meaningful. Forma tests that idea by specifying a person-specific psychological structure before generation and asking whether those directional relationships can be recovered afterward. In the full condition, an external probe reaches MCC +0.41 and AUC 0.70 for directed-edge recovery. When the structural formulation is removed, performance falls close to chance: MCC +0.03/AUC 0.52 with demographics and self-report still present, and +0.01/0.50 under zero-shot generation. ...

When Images Learn to Think in Code: The Rise of Code-as-CoT for Structured Generation

Poster. That is where the problem becomes embarrassingly visible. Ask an image model to make “a beautiful poster for a finance seminar,” and it may produce something visually polished enough to survive a casual scroll. Ask it to place five labeled cards, keep the headline readable, align the icons, preserve the chart, and spell the sponsor name correctly, and the glamour fades. The model may understand the request. It may even describe the right plan. Then it still puts the label where no label should live, mangles the typography, and invents a layout that looks as if the design brief was translated through fog. ...
